Writing local history in fiction and non fiction

‘Writing Local History’ is a workshop for anyone interested in researching, writing, pitching and presenting local history to audiences, whether fiction or non fiction.
Kevin Newman is the author of school history textbooks, numerous books on Sussex and three novels with local settings, including Beef Every Day but No Latin, a historical novel set in East Sussex. He contributes local history articles to various local and national publications and belongs to the Society of Authors. Kevin will take potential local history writers and storywriters through his career to date, share advice and information on creating your own text or presentation and then in the final third of the workshop, work with the group on their ideas and drafts.
Kevin is currently working on scripts for TV and film, including one based on a true 1960s Brighton murder case. His forthcoming books include ‘The Dark Little History of Sussex’.
This venue is a cafe in Eastbourne’s Enterprise Centre and participants will be able to purchase drinks and other refreshments. The nearest toilets are accessible by radar key next to the Collector’s Market across the car park.
